Who is behind this
One team writes. One expert reviews.
Water treatment is a five-figure decision made once a decade, so it matters who wrote what you are reading. Here is the split: the Home Water Lab Team does the research and the writing, and Ray Calloway, a water treatment expert, reviews the technical substance.
Home Water Lab Team
Research and editorial
The Home Water Lab Team researches and writes every article on this site: manufacturer documentation, dated price checks, certification lookups and 10-year cost of ownership math.
- Manufacturer spec sheet research
- Dated price tracking
- NSF/ANSI and WQA certification lookups
- 10-year cost of ownership modelling
Ray Calloway
Water treatment expert · Technical reviewer
Twelve years maintaining process water systems in food manufacturing, now an independent residential maintenance tech in Central Texas. Ray reviews the technical analysis published on The Home Water Lab before it goes live.
- Water softeners and ion exchange
- Salt-free water conditioners
- Whole-house filtration
- Well water treatment
Why the byline says two things
Specialist publications separate the two jobs, and so do we. The writer is accountable for the research, the sources and the dates. The technical reviewer is accountable for whether the analysis holds up, sizing math, spec interpretation, certification claims, installation reality. When an article carries the line “Reviewed by Ray Calloway”, that review actually happened; when it does not, the byline stays silent rather than borrowing authority it hasn’t earned. Our methodology spells out the rest.
